Scrapbooking paper and washi tape cupcakes

Hi folks! How are you? Can you believe it's almost the end of January already? To me it feels like it's gone so fast!

Now, I have a question for you: what should I do with these cupcakes?

They are wooden shapes that I've decorated with paper and washi tape, covered with a layer of modpodge. They are meant to be a bunting set but ... I just don't know. Is bunting the best option?

 

They are about 5"x5" so they are bit big for brooches (always my first idea ~_^) - although I would totally like to wear them! ^_^ Please use the comment section to tell me your suggestions! You know I love to hear from you ^_^

I also have been crocheting a bit to make a convertable fingerless glove to mitten ... thing.

It's not particularly good looking, but it is warm and the mitten flaps do seem to work well.

 

It's the first of a pair for my Nana Alma, but I want to check if it's going to fit her hand properly before I make another one!

Pikachu crochet coffee cup cosy

Hello! Happy Australia Day! I hope you all had a super day today - I really did! Australia Day is Philip's (Pip's boyfriend) birthday and they very kindly invited me to join a lovely lunch and then I spent the rest of the day listening intently to the Triple J Hottest 100 (I was very pleased with the outcome!). Anyways, Philip is a fan of Pokemon so for his present I made a Pikachu cuff to go around his new travel coffee cup.

Awww, isn't it cute? ^_^

This was really easy to make! I just crocheted a basic cuff and four circles for the eyes and blushing cheeks and used hot glue to attach them together. I used felt for the white parts of the eyes and nose and embroidered the mouth. I also added black felt behind the eyes so the little hole in the middle was less visible (you can hardly make it out now).

Anyway, I hope you like it!

Spray painted doormat and more washi tape letters

Hey! How's your week been? I hope it's been excellent! I have two finished projects to show you today - huzzah!

This is *such* a simple project I'm not even sure it counts! I saw some awesome neon door mats while on a trek around the interwebs and thought they were seriously awesome! But also a bit pricey ...

 

So I decided to make my own! This project is done in two steps:

1. Buy a rubber door mat

2. Cover it in spray paint

Ha ha, see what I mean? So easy! ^_^

 

I do really like how it turned out though!

 

 And you know how I mentioned that I was going to make more washi tape covered letters so I could have an alphabet for my fridge? Well, I did that! However, this project isn't *quite* finished yet as I couldn't find any letter As at the craft store. But I'm going to call this a win anyway ~_^

Washi taped Monogram Brooches

Hey folks! How has your weekend been? Mine has been great and also productive and now I've got a fun project to show you ^_^ And I even made a tutorial for it too! So, if you'd like to make a washi taped monogram brooch, read on! ^_^

Here's what you'll need:

• wooden letters
• white spray-paint
• washi tape
• scalpel
• mod-podge
• old paintbrush
• badge backs
• strong glue 

First off all: spray-paint your letters white. This makes the washi-tape patterns stand out more than just on plain wood, but you can still skip this step if you're not worried about that ^_^

When the letters are dry, stick strips of washi tape across them so that the entire letter is covered.

Then use your scalpel to trim the tape around the edges of the letter.

 

Use an old paintbrush to cover the top and sides of the letter in mod-podge. Don't use a new paintbrush because the mod-podge will ruin it!

 

Once the mod-podge is dry, attach a badge back with strong glue. I used E6000 - it's so good!

 

And that's it! It's done! ^_^

 

Now you can make a couple more!

 

Or a lot more! ~_^

These would also look great on the fridge - just replace the badge back with some strong little magnets.

E tu, Pancreas?

Hey folks. So, you might have noticed I've been away for a while; I've been trying to decide how much to share here, but I figure I might as well just tell it to you straight.

Last Thursday I was hospitalised; it turns out I have Type 1 Diabetes >_< I got to go home a couple of days ago and since then I've just been sorting out my injections and stuff. 

I haven't been crafting much, but I did make this representation of how my pancreas is currently feeling ...

 Poor pancreas ; _ ; 

But - enough whining! You come here for the crafts, right?! ~_^

So ... I also made these animal and dinosaur brooches. They were super easy and I think they are totally cute ^_^

All I did to make them was to spray paint some plastic figurines and then glue badge backs onto them. I think the bunny is my favourite ^_^

Oh, and I do have some good news to share as well; I got accepted into uni for 2013! Yay! ^_^ I'm going to be studying Anthropology and Sociology and I've already brought some seriously essential study materials from Typo ~_^

Typo has the best stationary ^_^

Sew On & Sew Forth art canvas

Ahoy! Did you have a great End of Year Period of Togetherness? I really enjoyed ours! Scott and I spent one entire day eating breakfast food (yum! ^_^) and then the next day seeing Scott's family and playing with our little neice and nephew at his grandma's house. I have learnt many things about building block towers and playing peek-a-book and also that singing Soft Kitty to babies actually makes them happy o_0

And then yesterday I got out my scrapbooking supplies and a 5" canvas and made this!

Yay! I'm really happy with how it turned out ^_^

Finally a use for the tiny scissors that come with sewing kits and yet are unable to cut a single thing!

 

I made these tiny spools when I was making things for the craft fair; they are about half the size of the spools I used for the necklaces.

Ninni Monsters and Mustache Cuff Links

Hey! Today I finished four Ninni Monsters - yay! ^_^

I have another four monsters cut out but I still need to sew on the eyes and such.

 

I think that the best thing about Ninni Monsters is that you only need a small amount of fabric so they're great for using up remenents. Do you have a favourite? I think I like the pink one the best ^_^

I also made these mustache cuff-links. They are a custom order for a friend at work, and I think they turned out really well ^_^

 

I actually made two pairs, but they look exactly the same so you can just pretend that these photos are of two different sets of cuff-links ~_^

 

I've got three more pairs of cuff-link fastenings, so what do you think I should put on those? Maybe I should make some Death Stars ones for Scott?
